CSCU Nursing

CSCU campuses offer nationally accredited nursing programs that prepare students for licensure as a registered nurse (RN). The CT-CCNP is an associate degree nursing (ADN) program offered at six CT Community Colleges and three of the CSUs offer baccalaureate nursing (BSN) programs.

Central (CCSU), Southern (SCSU) and Western (WCSU) State Universities all offer programs for Associate Degree Nurses (ADNs) to advance to the baccalaureate. In addition CCSU, SCSU and WCSU all offer many educational options for Registered Nurses (RNs) that prepare them for advanced practice roles such as nurse practitioner, nurse educator/faculty and clinical leadership. All programs are nationally accredited. Select from our list below:

Program Recognition

Nursing faculty and program leadership from GWCC, TRCC and SCSU were acknowledged at a statewide nursing event held on April 24, 2015 for their work on a CT Nursing Collaborative Action Coalition, RWJF funded project. The colleges were congratulated on their collaborative work with representatives from Yale-New Haven, The William W. Backus and Lawrence and Memorial Hospitals as clinical affiliate sites and employers of graduates from all three nursing programs.

The project was an effort to identify gaps between the educational preparation of nursing graduates at the associate and baccalaureate levels and the needs of the workforce. The work applied the research based Massachusetts Nurse of the Future competency based framework. Several collaborative curriculum and transition to practice projects have emerged from the original work that culminated in the summer of 2013.
